By December 23, Chiron, considered a healer planetoid, is in retrograde.

With Chiron retrograde in Aries, we are healing our relationship with all things found in Aries energy. From violence in the shadows to assertive action in the light - but also our very own ego issues.

Inner healing has been energetically coming to the fore since the Full Moon in Capricorn and requires our attention to look at and heal any distortions or misdirected energies within us.

The Mythological Significance of Chiron

Chiron is considered the wounded warrior. According to Greek mythology, he was the son of the titan Kronos, who represents the planet Saturn, who is said to have transformed into the form of a horse when he wanted to make love to Philyra, a sea nymph.

Their union produced a centaur, a creature with the head and upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. A demigod. The centaur child, who was given the name Chiron because of his skillful and healing hands (ancient Greek: hand), was not attractive enough and looked grotesque, so he rejected his mother, the beautiful sea nymph. But Apollo, god of the sun, god of poetry, divination and music, came to the rescue. Apollo and his sister Artemis, moon goddess and goddess of the hunt, adopted the little orphan Chiron and thoroughly tutored him in the mediumistic arts, sciences and mysteries he needed to serve and help the gods and us humans. Therefore, Chiron was very different from the other Centaurs, who were considered more of a good-for-nothing mermaid. He lived a rather secluded life and over time gained a lot of respect as a healer, astrologer, prophet and teacher.

At a feast, which also included drinking copious amounts of wine, Chiron was accidentally shot by an arrow from his friend Heracles. The point of this arrow was soaked with the blood of the deadly Hydra. Even the demigod Chiron, who had the privilege of immortality as the son of a titan and a nymph and was considered the greatest healer of his time, was unable to heal his own wounds. What a tragedy, while he was able to heal the wounds of those hit by arrows - but not himself.

According to the legend, Chiron suffered from his wound from then on. He was only freed from this when he renounced his immortality to save the titan Prometheus. Because he wanted to save mankind and therefore stole the fire from Olympia, Prometheus was fatefully chained to a rock by Zeus and sentenced to endless suffering. An eagle ate his liver out every night, and it grew back every day. Thus, Prometheus was doomed to endless suffering. Prometheus could only be put out of his misery on condition that a demigod renounce his own immortality. As a result, Chiron, who now sacrificed himself, was initially banished to the underworld, according to legend to Hades (astrologically Pluto), where he was to remain indefinitely, only to then go to the heaven of the gods and shortly thereafter became Chiron as a constellation in the sky, where it can also be found today as an asteroid or planetoid (minor planet). It moves between the Saturn and Uranus orbits.

How do you calculate Chiron?

Technically, one calculates the status of Chiron at the time of a person's birth. This means in which archetype energy of the 12th zodiac a specific healing issue could show up. And in which of the 12th astrological houses it works, or in which area of ​​the life of the horoscope owner a certain wound could appear.

The spiritual "wound" that Chiron displays - can this be removed at all or does it remain "forever"?  

To a certain extent, this position of Chiron remains in the horoscope, hence the finger pointing to the individual wound. With a lot of patience, work, therapy and awareness, it can certainly be cured. But I think the area and the issue will continue to be a sensitive area. And that doesn't just have to be negative, if you are simply made aware of what your own biggest painful topic is, you can, conversely, also be more careful with yourself in the further course of life.

Chiron and its healing properties have a lot to do with compassion and humanity

Above all, it also makes us more human to always be aware of a certain vulnerability. We live in such a hectic and performance-oriented time that sometimes requires us to be almost superhuman in pure survival mode. Just as Chiron was half-human, half-god, we also always move between the spheres as humans and spiritual beings alike.

In the story about Chiron we find a lot of humanity, which we often miss in the elbow society and in the face of suffering in the world and wars.

Chiron in the Light of the Aquarian Age

An important facet of the so-called Age of Aquarius is the energy of change. The zodiac sign Aquarius is derived from Uranus astrlogically mastered. And if we remember that Chiron acts as a sort of astronomical bridge builder between the planets Uranus and Saturn, which, by the way, will still be active in Aquarius of all places until 2023, it magically fits together. So that we can leave in a new age full of humanity and wisdom, it is important for each individual to deal individually with the individual healing topics. As paradoxical as it sounds, knowing about our own primal wound actually makes us complete and whole.

Chiron as a (shamanic) key

The astronomical symbol for Chiron is a key with a knob representing its orbit. I personally like the interpretation that with the analysis of Chiron one can open up a space of healing and at the same time activate one's own mental and psychological self-healing powers. In my readings, a lot happens with each individual when we tackle this topic. And personally I can also find my own bridge between shamanic and astrology here. In a way, Chiron is also considered a shamanic point in the horoscope.
